Resumen | El artículo pretende mostrar el significado filosófico de la incertidumbre del siempre inquieto buscador que fue Miguel de Unamuno. La profunda crisis religiosa e intelectual, que le llevó a perder la fe de la infancia, lejos de conducirle a una pasiva actitud escéptica, fue su punto de partida para buscar un nuevo sentido a la existencia. Y, animado siempre por un espíritu combativo, la incertidumbre sobre la vida eterna de la conciencia individual se convirtió para él en el estímulo más eficaz para anhelar la inmortalidad y llegar a merecerla a través de una vida apasionadamente buena. En esa incertidumbre entre la verdad lógica y la cardíaca reside el sentimiento trágico de la vida en los hombres y en los pueblos. Es sencillamente incertidumbre sin solución, que no le lleva a la desesperación ni al abandono de la búsqueda, sino al contrario, le impulsa a inventar, a poetizar, a imaginar una salida, dedicando la vida entera a luchar por su realización.

Miguel de Unamuno: Tragic Feeling and Uncertainty as Consolation

Abstract | This text tries to show the philosophical meaning of the uncertainty which was always linked to the restless researcher Miguel de Unamuno. The deep religious and intellectual crisis, that led him to lose the childhood faith, far from assuming a sceptic and passive attitude, was his starting point of seeking a new existential sense. And, always encouraged by his fighting spirit, the uncertainty about eternal life of individual awareness, became for him the most effective encouragement to long for immortality and be worthy of it through a passionately good life. In that uncertainty between logical and heart there is a tragic feeling of men and population life. It is just an uncertainty without solution, so it doesn’t lead him to hopelessness or search withdrawal, but on the contrary it motivates him to invent, poeticize, imagining an exit and devoting his entire life to fight for its accomplishment.
